The Coastal line of island Cyprus can appear under threat of pollution by 10-30 thousand tons of oil which has been poured in Mediterranean sea at coast of Lebanon as a result of the Israeli air strikes. The huge spot was formed at the Lebanese coast on July, 13th and 15 when the Jewish fighters have destroyed by bombing fuel tanks of one of power stations in 30 kilometers to the south from Beirut. According to representatives of the United Nations, at present the size of oil spillage is about 80 kilometers of a coastal line of Lebanon. Prevailing southwest winds gradually move it to coast of Syria and Turkey. "It undoubtedly the greatest ecological accident in history of Mediterranean sea which will have the most awful consequences not only for our country, but also for all countries of East Mediterranean", - was declared by minister on protection of an environment of Lebanon Iacub Sarraf. Minister on protection of an environment of Cyprus Fotis Fotiu has noted, that though at present to Cyprus, in general, nothing threatens, change of a direction of a wind and absence of a plan of action in case of achievement by an oil spillage of coast of island can lead to big problems. As he said, now Cyprus has the equipment and technologies only for liquidation of consequences of small and average ecological accidents.
